From 2021 through 2025, SecureFutures focused on rebuilding and gaining momentum following the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the 2021–2022 school year, the organization returned to in-person programming, strengthening classroom engagement and reconnecting with students, volunteers, and school partners. During that year, SecureFutures reached a monumental milestone: 100,000 students had participated in its programs. This moment also marked a period of rapid growth, with a significant increase in Money Coach students, a sharp rise in Money Path partners and users, and an expanded staff to meet growing demand, reflecting both the scale and sustained impact of its work.
This era also marked a deepening focus on opportunity, access, and relevance in programming. With renewed energy and collaboration among staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners, SecureFutures continued to expand its reach while ensuring that every program was meaningful and effective. In a historic moment for the organization, former Money Sense student Jeremy Cain was elected board chairperson in July 2022, demonstrating the lasting influence of SecureFutures’ programming and the value of lived experience in guiding its future.
A pivotal moment came in December 2023, when Governor Evers signed Act 60 into law, requiring Wisconsin high school students to complete a personal finance course before graduation, starting with the graduating class of 2028. SecureFutures is positioned to support schools and students as they prepare for this requirement, providing programs and tools that make financial education accessible, practical, and relevant for all teens. This period also underscored SecureFutures’ growing leadership at the state level: in 2021, President and CEO Brenda Campbell was appointed to the Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy and Capability, and in 2025, she was named Chairperson of the Council. During this era, the organization’s growth was also reflected in its fundraising, with annual revenue surpassing $2 million, enabling continued expansion and innovation.
Today, more than 145,000 students have been served by SecureFutures’ programming, a testament to the dedication of its staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters over the past 20 years.
