Director of Volunteer Programs

Report to: Vice President

Position Summary

As part of the leadership team, the Director of Volunteer Programs oversees the Money Coach, Money Sense, and Volunteer teams to ensure the successful execution of outreach and program activities, as well as volunteer recruitment and engagement. This role is a mix of partnership development, program development and evaluation, supervisory duties, project management, and direct programming support to the team.

 

Supervision & Leadership

  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining program staff.
  • Ensure the continuation of duties if an absence occurs on the team.
  • Meet regularly with direct reports and evaluate employee performance through the annual review process.
  • Coach and support the development of emerging leaders.
  • Assist direct reports in program planning, problem-solving, and strategy execution.
  • Ensure program team members understand the expectations of program delivery and execute accordingly.
  • Oversee the standardization and documentation of program tasks, procedures, and workflows.
  • Manage team projects and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • In conjunction with the Vice President, create and monitor program goals, and ensure program objectives are implemented and met by the Program team.
  • Facilitate strategy development through a collaborative approach that encourages team members’ participation and creates space for them to take ownership of initiatives.
  • Contribute to organizational strategy and decision-making through participation in the Leadership Team.
  • Represent SecureFutures to external partners and stakeholders through meetings, conferences, and other events.

Program Outreach, Implementation & Evaluation

  • Work with the Vice President and Program team members to develop and execute growth strategies.
  • In conjunction with the Program and Marketing and Communication teams, contribute to developing and executing communication strategies to strengthen partnerships and raise awareness of volunteer-led programming among potential and current partners, school leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the development of, oversee, and execute outreach strategies (cold calling, emails, meetings, referrals, etc.) to secure and retain program partners for Money Sense programs.
  • Understand the needs and desired outcomes of partners and educators, and position SecureFutures as a strong solution that supports their goals and improves student achievement.
  • Problem-solve issues between educators and volunteers, in partnership with program team members.
  • Lead curriculum review, maintenance, and enhancement, focused on improving program quality, impact, and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the analysis of outcome and evaluation data and stakeholder feedback, and develop strategies and action steps that address concerns and opportunities. 
  • Support the development of the Money Coach Alumni Network (MCAN).

Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement

  • Lead the development and oversee the implementation of volunteer recruitment strategies that grow and diversify the volunteer base.
  • Lead the development and oversee the implementation of volunteer training and support strategies to ensure that volunteers are prepared to work cross-culturally and cross-generationally and create inclusive, engaging, and impactful experiences for students. 
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of volunteer materials, including presentation guides and other support and skill-building resources.
  • Lead the planning and oversee the execution of volunteer engagement, retention, appreciation, and recognition efforts.

Data Management & Reporting

  • In conjunction with the Vice President, Operations Director, and Program and Data Success Manager, maintain and enhance data integrity, metrics, and reporting.
  • Enter and maintain program data in Salesforce.
  • Ensure team members meet data entry standards and adhere to data management procedures and workflows.
  • Ensure volunteer and educator contact records in Salesforce are updated in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with periodic reporting of program activity and impact data.

Other

  • Participate in the planning and coordination of meetings for the Education Committee and Program and Volunteer Subcommittees.
  • Assist with planning and execution of special initiatives and events.
  • Participate in fundraising activities, as assigned.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years of experience in program outreach and management 
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience maintaining and enhancing curriculum-based programs to meet evolving participant and organizational needs

  • Have a positive, collaborative, supportive, and interactive approach to working with high-performing, diverse, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal and team relationships
  • Experience in helping build the leadership and technical skills of direct reports
  • Experience with building and supporting partnerships with external organizations, especially schools, and nonprofits
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate data 
  • Desire to learn, explore, problem-solve, and constantly improve processes and results.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and supervisory skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project management skills
  • Ability to understand organizational strategic goals and how components fit together
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite, plus existing or developing expertise in Salesforce or a similar CRM
  • Requires access to a reliable vehicle for local travel to meet with educators and promote programs.
